Behind the house

Studio notes.

How the house gets made. These are real working sheets from along the way, oldest first, each with its raw filename and its date. Some of it looks nothing like the game anymore. That's how you can tell it's history.

A furniture sheet with one-tile scale bars. In the three BEFORE rows, the dining chairs, stool, armchair, side table, stove and sink are half size beside the table, sofa and counter. In the three AFTER rows, everything is in proportion.

Look at the chairs

Small pieces came out at half scale, so the dining chairs looked doll-sized next to their own table until this fix.

Ten early 3D renders of an old bear and an old duck, each in a chef's hat, a teal cap, a wide sun hat, a gray helmet with a red crest and a white space helmet.

Early fitting

An early outfit test, on our first bear and duck rigs. Neither rig is in the game anymore.

Seven wooden pieces in two rows (a dining table, coffee table, desk, double bed, dining chair, TV stand and sink), pale golden wood on top and a deeper brown below.

Too yellow, too light

wood-sweep-contact-2026-08-12.png

The first wood read too yellow and too light, so all 27 props in the furniture library were swept darker in one pass (top row before, bottom row after).

The same double bed twice: on the left, flat pillows sitting on a base with a seam; on the right, two plump one-piece cushions.

Pillows, rev 3

At phone size the old pillows showed a seam, so each one became a single soft cushion.

Under the heading "default": a pale straight wall, a coral wall and a coral wall with a window, each shown large and at two smaller sizes, labeled env_wall_straight_01.png, env_wall_coral_01.png and env_wall_window.png.

Walls, big and small

contact-sheet.png (walls-2026-10-08)

Three wall pieces from the review sheet, each shown large and small, with its filename underneath.

Two renders of the duck at four times size: on the left, "Pass 1" with the new bill; on the right, "v6", the bill before it.

The bill, pass 1

sheet.png (docs/duck-beak-model/pass_1)

The duck's bill, modeled again by hand: pass 1 on the left, the bill it replaces on the right.

That's where the house comes from.

If you'd like to live in it, the list is open.
